Gavin Smith

Gavin Smith is a professional poker player from Ontario, Canada. He learned cards from a very young age; his father taught him to play rummy and cribbage. When he got older, Smith earned a degree in economics, and he also got a job as a poker dealer. That position influenced his future as a poker player, and after he'd worked as a dealer for a year, Smith decided to play professional poker full-time.

Both men signed deals with Full Tilt Poker, and they remain sponsored professionals there. Smith focused on cash games in the beginning of his professional career, but in the latter stages, he has focused on his tournament play. In 1999, he won the seven card stud and no-limit hold 'em events at the World Poker Finals. In 2005, Smith won the World Poker Tour Mirage Showdown for over a million dollars, and he also had top finishes at two WPT final tables.

To his credit, Gavin Smith has fourteen WSOP cash finishes. His best tournament finish is a second place in 2007's pot limit Omaha; he has a half-million dollar win at the Poker Dome challenge. In 2006, Smith bet Allie Prescott $700,000 to her million. Smith finished second at that time, and that finish got him a job with RawVegas.tv's show "Prop Bets". Currently, Gavin Smith lives in Las Vegas, but still has roots in Canada, returning there several times a year. Whether he's at the poker table, doing volunteer work, or on TV, Gavin Smith is known as a good person and a gentleman.
